RE: Stokes County Democrats
Tucker Miller opines:
When Robert Mitchell lost to the most incompetent candidate I've ever spoken with, I knew the dems were completely finished in Stokes County.
The only ways a democrat will ever win in Stokes Co. again: (1)- King and Tobaccoville (the derriere of the county) were to be lopped off and annexed by Winston-Salem; (2) - A democrat candidate were to change their affiliation to republican, lie throughout the election, and then change registration back to dem after elected; or (3) a well respected republican changed their registration to democrat (to avoid the "who's the most conservative contest", aka the republican primary) and ran for office.
However, if Stokes changed their commissioner elections to have three districts - northern, southeastern, southwestern - and two at-large seats, not only would a dem probably be on the board, but then King wouldn't have a monopoly on stokes politics. Also, if the ballots did not say REP and DEM next to the candidates name there might be folks with some sense calling the shots in Danbury, and Raleigh, and Washington…but, I digress- if "ifs and buts were candy and nuts"….
I'm just going to vote in the republican primaries so I have a little say in the matter.
