Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

The Washington Post Doesn't Have a Clue About Government Under a Written Constitution

John Armor is a First Amendment lawyer who has argued cases before the supreme court. He lives in Western North Carolina. He is a frequent contributor to Free Republic.

As I posted in response to John's article, I believe it is time for us to enact a stiff penalty for obvious constitutional ignorance on the part of our elected officials. They swear an oath to uphold the constitution, yet most of them are completely ignorant of its content, intent, and purpose. Christopher Dodd is one such legislator. I believe this kind of blatant ignorance warrants at least censure and should probably result in expulsion when it is repeated.
