Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Greens vs. Levees

There are several reports like this one starting to surface. For those who are inclined to wonder why the levees in NOLA weren't better fortified, you may have to look no further than your nearest neighborhood environmentalist. Ham-handed environmental policy almost inevitably leads to clashes between opposing interests. In this case, Louisiana black bears were apparently more important than Louisiana people.

Maybe Howie Dean should be accusing the enviromentalists of racism.
