RE: Another response from my friend, K
He has absolutely NO idea what Socialism is. NO idea. He should have taken my Marx, Marxism and the Aftermath of Marx class I had in college.
Let's see. K had a class on Marxism in college. Steve has a degree in economics. Nope. These sentences are rejected. K is speaking from an orifice not located on K's head.
Marx believed in the good of religion… while Lenin may have not, Marx did.
K apparently also needs to learn how to read. I believe that I said...oh wait...there it is right in the part of my post Behethland quoted:
Steve said, "Have you read The Communist Manifesto or any of the writings of V. I. Lenin? If not, you need to before you spout any more of this nonsense."
What Steve didn't say was anything at all about Marx and religion, but let's recap for the learning impaired (K, are you listening?):
Steve said, "[With regard to post-revolution socialism]The government won't let you believe in Jesus. Christianity and socialism are mutually exclusive."
Hmmm, nope, no mention of Marx there. I guess poor K is a victim of the government-run schools. Without basic comprehension skills, how are we to trust K's interpretation of the class on Marxism? Of course, that doesn't even go into the question of whether this class was objective or whether the professor, as so many do today, had an agenda. But we'll leave that for now.
People who are not well-read in these things should not spout out such nonsense.
I believe I might have said that...ooops..there it is, just a few lines up the page. Does that mean you intend to shut up now, K?
I have no respect for people like that.
The feeling is quite mutual. There's quite a difference between spewing abstract ideas that have been spoon-fed to you my some college professor who is likely a socialist him/herself and dragging your scroungy hide around an actual socialist country. And I'm not talking about Canada or France. Of course, since socialism has been demonstrated to be an abject failure, doing that is pretty difficult these days. Get back to me when you return from the PRC or North Korea.
