Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Bush takes blame for flaws in Katrina response

How do you know when our president is just playing politics with empty sentiment? When he finally ‘admits’ that his administration’s mistakes are ultimately his responsibility.

So what do you want from the guy? Harakire? Resignation? I hardly think so. Your President, Slick Willy set the precedent on that one. If Presidents don't have to retire in shame when they get caught fornicating with the hired help on the job and lying to grand juries about it, I hardly think the venial sin of hiring incompetents is going to warrant it.
