Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Who's Kyle Carroll???

If memory serves, Kyle is Lewis' son. I may be wrong on that, but I am pretty sure he is related in some way. And in response to your earlier question, I don't know if Lewis (and Kyle) are related to Ron Carroll. I don't think so, but you never know.

This is one of the reasons I decided to leave local politics altogether. Some people don't have the courage of their convictions (or just plain courage, in some cases), to respond to public dialog in public. Instead, they resort to phone harassment and private conversations (or more accurately, private harangues). I am not a public figure any more. I am not beholden to the electorate in any way. The comments I make on The Bully Pulpit or on Free Republic are public comments and I will not respond to them privately. They are my opinions and beliefs and if anyone has an issue with what I write here or anywhere else, they are welcome to respond in these forums. If they are not brave enough to take it up with me in public, then I am not interested. That goes doubly for any lurker who is too cowardly to take a stand themselves and who attempts to get someone else to do it for them.

I hope that's clear enough.
