RE: RE: Steve's Public School Story
Montessori would be a good option for someone who wanted a superior education for their child without sacrificing the socialist indoctrination provided by the government-run schools.
Sounds to me like you're simply unable to credit anyone you deem 'liberal' as being able to give a superior education without including socialist indoctrination. Obviously, Steve must think that the commies have also infiltrated private Montessori schools, as well as all other private schools not religious or home-school-type. Do you actually fear 'superior education' when methods of learning are taught by those you think are 'liberals?' That's rather paranoid and doesn't speak volumes about your confidence in your own morality, viewpoints, or teaching abilities from a parental perspective.
Why not homeschool? With the resources you have available to you, there is no doubt that would provide a far better education than you could find anywhere else.
Being a good parent is homeschooling. I homeschool my child every day. Each time he or I choose a toy for him to play with, I help him use it on his own and carefully show him how it works. All that sort of stuff is teaching, and a parent is a teacher. But I had many more good teachers in life than just two and the knowledge and appreciation of the world that I have come from many sources, influences, and methods of learning. I hate to say it, but having the same two teachers year after year — the same two that already are supposed to fill their free moments with other unexhausted lessons, ideas, and fun with you — sounds less like a good deal and more like a bore.
