Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Laura Bush: Don't focus on gay marriage in campaigns

But wait: how will Republicans rally their red state base without manipulating the fears of homophobes? I'm afraid that the abortion issue alone can't possibly get them all to the polls.

They don't need either of those. They still have the War on TerrorĀ®.

I just think this is uproariously funny in light of the number of pubbies who thought Bush was actually serious about either of those issues in the first place.
