Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Cindy upchucks some Jew-hate

What did she say a week earlier?

She said (paraphrasing) that Isreal was the root cause of all the trouble in the Middle East and that they should give up their sham, manufactured nation and return to the ghettoes of Europe (I added the ghetto part, but that was clearly her intent). She also said Jews are behind every major war in human history.

I'm paraphrasing because I heard her say it on television, so I don't remember the exact quote.

I also want to go on record at this point saying that I didn't find what Gibson or Sheehan said on Jews starting all the wars particularly anti-Semitic. The "f---ing Jews" expletives from Gibson are probably more along those lines. I think the ADL has adopted the operating mode of the perpetually offended that was perfected by the NAACP. However, the American media chose to fixate on Mel's (and, by demonstration, Cindy's) view of world military history in their characterization of his anti-Semitisim.

That being said, Sheehan gets plenty of attention from the world media, probably more than Gibson ever got before the Malibu incident. If Sheehan is no longer the darling of the American double-digit IQ set on whatever pablum morning news show ABCNBCCBS happens to dump on the television public, it has to be more because their autistic attention span was elsewhere diverted, maybe even by Mel. Then again, Sheehan's road show consists of her sying things that the media moguls titter about in private, but that they know would get them pilloried upon broadcast.
