The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Vernon Robinson, the brash Republican challenger and fundraising master who has been a consistent presence in North Carolina politics for nearly 20 years, said yesterday that this year's campaign may be his last.
