Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Steve opines: "And let's face it, the premier argument you hear from Bush supporters goes something like this:

"I don't like a lot of what Bush does, but I voted for him because he's a nice man and I think he means well.""

I disagree... The premier argument you hear from Bush supporters is: "I don't like a lot of what Bush does, but I voted for him because he's better than Al Gore and John Kerry." I'll admit that was one of my reasons. :-)
