Republicans' defense of President Bush's immigration bill is more enraging than their defense of Harriet Miers. Back then, Bush's conservative base was accused of being sexist for opposing an unqualified woman's nomination to the highest court in the land. Now we're racists for not wanting to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens.
I don't know why conservatives like Linda Chavez have to argue like liberals by smearing their opponents as racists. Oh wait, now I remember! Their arguments are as strong as liberals' arguments usually are.
Apart from abortion, no subject produces so much disingenuousness as America's immigration policy, both legal and illegal. For nearly 50 years, Americans have been intentionally lied to about our immigration laws.

I really don't understand her prickly attitude toward immigrants from Mexico. I don't fault hard-working immigrants who take advantage of a lax system while striving to increase their income.
And what's with Ann's numerous comments regarding Catholics?
So here's my short rant: If she wants to be pissed at anyone and talk about race, she should be pissed at her beloved WASPs.
In 1960, whites were 90 percent of the country. The Census Bureau recently estimated that whites already account for less than two-thirds of the population and will be a minority by 2050. Other estimates put that day much sooner.
Boo-hoo, Ann. So, where are your three or four WASP children — your offering to your WASPy cause, if you will?
To be fair, we WASPs are the ones not procreating while having no interest in enforcing existing US law. Heck, we're the ones that largely hire immigrants to build our homes, cook our meals, and do all the things that we, for whatever reason, can't seem to do for ourselves anymore.
If liberals think Iraqis are genetically incapable of pulling off even the most rudimentary form of democracy, why do they believe 50 million Mexicans will magically become good Americans, imbued in the nation's history and culture, upon crossing the Rio Grande?
Don't be stupid, Ann. The lives and desires of average Mexicans and Americans are quite similar. Everyone who reads your column isn't a moronic xenophobe. And give me a break: most AMERICANS aren't "imbued in the nation's history."
Sure, our immigration policy sucks. But Coulter's rants are now clearly the old school. She’s wool sweater-itchy, a has-been "provocative" conservative writer, a self-serving voice echoing in the relatively empty spaces of FreeRepublic.com and her own website. Even the needy (dying?) forum of print news won’t have her anymore. She's AM radio: there, yet inconsequential. She is not the voice of the modern conservative. Find a new hero, guys. The Left is over Michael Moore. Isn't it time for the Right to be over Coulter so we can all move along?

I think you're missing the point on her attitude toward immigrants. It is the illegal immigrants she has a problem with and the fact that the pols kowtow to a particular ethnicity of illegal immigrant. If 12 million Asians were here illegally, I think the attitude in Washington would be different. Asians who arrive here tend not to go on the dole and are far more independent. They tend to vote for government to leave them alone, which is anathema to our system.
Your point about WASPs procreating is deadly accurate. You should only add that in addition to a lack of white, European procreation, we are also aborting white Europeans in appalling numbers.
Coulter's problems with the media are more along the lines that she doesn't play her role of cheerleader as reliably as she used to. After she left the pubbie reservation over SOCTUS nominees, she was in the same boat.
There is a pretty large war going on right now between the preeminent conservative media, those who were around long before Bush singlehandedly wiped out the conservative movement, and the new conservative media, those who rose with the neocons. Noonan, Schlafly, Limbaugh, Coulter, Buckley, et al are stepping away from Bush and the neocons at a rapid rate. Meanwhile, Podhoretz (bothuvem), Krystol, Krauthammer, and others are pushing Bush away, but still defending their neo-Marxist, neo-Jacobin doctrines.
If movement conservatives manage to get it together and form up the wagon train again, it will be built around the old faithfuls (of which Coulter is a member in good standing). Sorry, Strother. I don't see Ann going anywhere, any time soon.
The pertinent part of this, to me, is the second paragraph. The supporters of the Immigration Bill are, like liberals, resorting to ad hominem attacks on their opponents because they cannot make any arguments based on fact or logic.
I am no Ann Coulter fan, in fact I am a Marxist Communist and I hate America's Roach Motel because I cannot even leave this fucking country! I live on SS and a Pension and no savings. I need a fortune to leave this country and SS does not pay you if you move to Venezuela because it is not on their approved list! Well, fuck that! I can't live on a penison. So I am stuck in the Roach Motel! Don't tell me to leave, I just told you I cannnot by US laws duh!
