Fuel tank inspections find problems
(The Stokes News) - Substandard fuel tank systems call for more than $40,000 in repair work for three county filling locations.
On Oct. 30, the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources did its official inspections of three fuel tanks in Stokes County owned by the county government.
"They found some problems," said Danny Stovall, Support Services supervisor for the county, Monday at the county commissioners meeting.
The underground tanks inspected are at the landfill, the county garage in Danbury and on N.C. 89 East in Walnut Cove.
Steven Booe, environmental specialist with NCDENR, reported his findings back to the county in three notices of violation.
