Cowan’s residency in Walnut Cove questioned
(The Stokes News) - A Walnut Cove resident and a Winston-Salem investigator questioned Commissioner Debbie Cowan’s right to serve on the Walnut Cove Board of Commissioners Tuesday night.
Linda Hepler, a resident of East Second Street, questioned the board of commissioners during the public comments portion of the town meeting. “How come Debbie Cowan has a address over here on Main Street and lives on Old Plantation Drive? We’ve had an investigation on her. I got Mr. Bob Spillman here with me now with evidence and everything, and she lives on Old Plantation Drive.”
Once Heppler ended her comments, Bob Spillman of Bob Spillman Detective Agency, addressed the board.

Nate Pendley got in trouble over this one time, although I can't remember all of the details. He was running for judge in a district near Winston-Salem, but it turned out he didn't live in the district. He owned some property in the district, but the Democrats put a private investigator on him and found out he never slept there. It went to the state election board and as I recall, they ruled that a candidate must sleep at the residence he is claiming at least 60% of the time.
