Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Rush Limbaugh's Morning Update: Paradise

Oh, no, folks: There's trouble in paradise. Liberal activists think that Obama's cabinet choices aren't liberal enough to bring about the kind of "change" they want. Tensions are so high that a top Obama aide is telling the libs to cool down their criticisms of The Messiah.

His name is Steve Hildebrand -- he's Obama's deputy campaign manager -- and he posted a note on a kook website, saying Lord Obama "was elected to be the president of all the people, not just those on the left. This is not a time for the left wing of our party to draw conclusions about the cabinet and White House appointments that President-elect Obama is making." In other words: "Shut up! Let The Messiah be The Messiah."

Meanwhile, we have a catfight going on. Incoming UN Ambassador Susan Rice wants to send in her own transition team to the State Department, which is Hillary Clinton's fiefdom. Susan Rice is considered a "traitor" by Clinton, Inc. because she backed Obama early on -- despite having served at State under Bill Clinton. Technically, Rice now works for Hillary, but she's clearly Obama's eyes and ears at State. It's the Chicago Machine vs. Clinton, Inc. Early money says take Hillary, but that could change.

Finally, one day after meeting Jesse Jackson, Jr. about his aspirations to fill Obama's former Senate seat, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was arrested by the Feds for trying to "sell" that appointment. I guess Obama gets to start his pardon list early.
