Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Legislation would allow beer samples in stores

RALEIGH (Winston-Salem Journal) - Legislation being considered in North Carolina would give grocery shoppers a chance to sample beer and ale in addition to wine tastings already allowed in the store aisles.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports that the proposal is another sign that traditionally restrictive alcohol laws are loosening in North Carolina.
