Review panel wants details on financing

Members issue report, express concerns over ballpark deal

(By Laura Graff, Winston-Salem Journal) - The Citizens Baseball Stadium Review Committee has a number of concerns about the stadium, including the details of the financing agreement between the city of Winston-Salem and the stadium's developer and about the ways the city will be repaid.

Yesterday, at the committee's fifth meeting in four weeks, committee members approved a report summarizing their work to this point and noting that they have not had a chance to closely review the financing arrangement.

The committee's most significant decision so far has been approving $6.7 million in payments from the city to the contractors building the stadium to get work on the ballpark rolling again.
