Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

DNC Chairman Issues Message to Tea Partiers Worried About Size of Government



“To those members of the tea parties or others who are worried about the size of government this is a President who wanted to do it in a bi-partisan way with the deficit commission but Republican sponsors voted no. He still has moved ahead and you’re going to see actions taken by the administration to deal with the size of government.”
