Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Actress Ashley Judd Suggests Strip Mining Is Like Spousal Rape

(The Blast) - Actress Ashley Judd spoke at the National Press Club in Washington, DC on June 9th discussing, as what she sees, to be the horrors of strip mining. During this speech Judd, a self-described ‘hillbilly’ from Kentucky, made quite the comparison, suggesting strip mining is akin to spousal rape.
