Nunn Brothers Festival to celebrate bluegrass heritage

WESTFIELD (By Dean Palmer, The Pilot) — Twin brothers Alden and Arnold Nunn will be welcoming several hundred fellow music lovers this weekend to a large, remote field once used by the Nunn family for tobacco but now known as the Nunn Brothers Music Park.

The occasion is the 12th annual Nunn Brothers Bluegrass Festival, a four-day celebration of the bluegrass music, so deeply rooted in the area’s rural heritage. For Alden and Arnold Nunn, both of whom still live nearby, playing at home is nothing unusual.

The large Nunn family grew up playing together at their nearby homeplace on Woodville Road, in the tiny community of Woodville. Gatherings were frequent, with family and friends coming in to share food and good times and music always at the center. The Nunn brothers now dedicate the festival to the memory of their father, Clarence Olin Nunn, who passed away in 1979.
