Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Broke, But Not Yet Broken

Legislators returning to Raleigh in 2011 need to realize the state doesn’t have enough money to pay for all the government services they’ve pushed in the past.

RALEIGH (By Joseph Coletti, Carolina Journal Online) — Bad news has become the norm for incoming legislatures. Better to prepare everyone in August than surprise them in November or January. So here it goes...
