Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) Defends Kagan Vote: "A Mainstream Liberal Qualified Jurist"



(Real Clear Politics Video) - What I'm trying to do is get the Senate back to a Constitutional standard that stood the test of time," Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said defending his vote to confirm Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court.

"I believe he picked a qualified person," Graham added.

Graham says he believes this will allow him to encourage his Democratic colleagues to vote for a conservative nominee the next time a Republican president selects someone to join the Supreme Court.
