Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Sweepstakes back with new look

(By Laura Graff, Winston-Salem Journal) - At 2 p.m. yesterday, an hour after Tilley’s Internet Sweepstakes reopened after being closed for almost a week, eight people had bought computer time and sat in front of computer screens, playing new sweepstakes games.

The casino-style sweepstakes computer games that Tilley’s offered in the past were gone. The players had mixed reactions to the new games, which featured, among other things, cartoon ducks.
