Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: RE: RE: RE: House Passes State Lottery Bill

Behethland B. Clark responds to Steve Brenneis:

But you can't dictate to people where they spend their dollar. Sure, they NEED clothing, food, heating fuel, etc. but if they are bound and determined to buy a lottery ticket, they're gonna! Why not let our state benefit from it instead of our neighboring states. Yes, sometimes you have to choose between the lesser of two evils, so to speak. This isn't a black or white issue.

The lottery is an optional tax. You don't have to play! But hey; you might just win a million bucks!;)
