"Good intentions"
I'll say it: Live Aid didn't help the starving children in Africa. The real problem in Africa and other poor countries is that they are being run by totalitarian regimes. ... If we send any food, it just sits in a warehouse down there and goes to waste. ... If we send any money, it just goes into the bank accounts of these dictators. ... These dictators can't have their people living well because they would lose control of their country then. I would recommend reading this interview with this Kenyan economics expert James Shikwati in which he explains why giving aid to Africa is doing more harm than good.
With regard to Live Aid and other events like this, it's just an act by these entertainers to make them feel good about themselves. ... If you want to truly help these people, then the G8 should get together and overthrow these totalitarian governments.
For some reason, liberals want to get accolades for their "good intentions", and yet, we should just ignore the bad results that usually happen from these "good intentions." As Dr. Thomas Sowell has said, "They (liberals) have a tendency of hiding behind their "good intentions" when the policies put in place based on their vision blow up in their faces, asserting that things would have been "even worse" were it not for their "vision."
