Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: "Giving a damn"

When you are starving, you don't really care about what 'works'. You want food!

We're dealing with a complicated matter, and there are no immediate political solutions. The sick and the hungry in Africa don't have the time it takes to solve those types of problems. You give what you can when you can and you accept everyone's help that are willing to contribute; don't criticize and second guess their motives. Who cares?

In the mean time, we need to be looking at long-term fixes. But it is a fact of life that someone, somewhere will always need help.
