Cheney and the 'Noble Cause'

While no one in the Bush Administration is going to come out and directly say that Dick Cheney’s recent speech was a response to Cindy Sheehan, it’s hard not to think that there’s a common thread. While every right-wing water carrier from Rush Limbaugh to Michelle Malkin to Bill O’Reilly has done their level best to paint Sheehan as the worst mother since Joan Crawford started weilding a wire hangar, the administration knows better than to publicly try and slime her. So, like George Bush’s speech from last week, Cheney chose to emphasize sympathy and sacrifice while reinforcing the importance of the Iraq war.
