Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Defending the rich...

"What elite group would that be? Hmm.... I believe this guy has it backwards. It's the conservative agenda that is geared to a small, elite group; the rich."
Hey B: Did you read both articles??? One of the principle tenets of conservatism is returning power back to the people (less taxes, limited government, more freedom for the people), whereas socialism is taking power from the people (more taxes, big government, less freedom for the people.)

I'm going to defend the rich here... Last time I checked, they are people too. For some reason, liberals like to place the mark of the beast on their foreheads for being successful. Did you know that the Top 1% pay nearly 34% of the federal income taxes in this country; the Top 5% pay approx. 53%; the Top 10% pay nearly 65% of all income taxes, and the Top 50% pay approx. 96% of all income taxes. That means the bottom 50% pay only approx. 4% in income taxes. My question is why constantly bash people for being successful, when they are the ones pretty much carrying the freight with regard to funding government.
