Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Nepotism Resolution

Last night, the Stokes Co. Board of Commissioners passed a nepotism resolution ( it's in 2 parts: here & here)... It passed 3 -2 (The Turpins & McHugh voted in favor; Inman & Walker voted against.) According to John Turpin, "Jimmy's response to the resolution was he (Jimmy Walker) abides by his oath of office. He then preceded to read it (the oath of office ) entirely." John also said that an audience member took issue with a part of section 2 in the resolution... John Turpin said: "Andy, in section 2 the phrase "a person in a committed relationship with a Commissioner" an audience member took offense to this. He questioned Joe and I about it. He wanted to know if that meant homosexual couples. We responded yes and hetrosexual couples also."
