Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: "BP Lurkers"

"I'm not really sure what you mean by a "lurker" (I'm not up on the internet lingo)..."

A "lurker" is somebody who reads the news & opinion on the blog, but they won't post any comments themselves. I hope that makes sense.

"Steve, your experience is exactly why I don't feel comfortable debating on the BP anymore. It is very difficult to judge the spirit in which one is posting, and we risk someone taking our opinions personally and acting unreasonably. It can be dangerous."

I will protect you, B. :-) Granted, there are people who would like to shut Steve (a.k.a. The Evil Genius) up, but this is nothing new... It's been like that for over 10 years now. Nobody is going to harm you, B... Trust me. :-)
