Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: God and Government

Many religious right and conservatives want to claim that the US is a Christian nation, but we do not act like one. They fight to keep "under God" in the Pledge of allegiance, yet they support wars.
Well, B, the reason America is free is because we fought a war; the reason the nation was unified was because of a war; the reason we're not living under a totalitarian regime is because of a war. This world has always been governed by an aggressive use of force. The reason being is there is such a thing as good & evil out there.

It is a way of life that requires us to put the needs of others before our own, even when it may put us in uncomfortable or even dangerous situations.
What??? That doesn't make any sense.

Our nation should set the standard when it comes to giving and acting in a Christian manner. The actions of individuals don't make much difference when the national interests over-ride them. Going to war isn't really an individual decision.
You still don't make sense here... What do you believe the national interests should be???

America needs to learn that actions speak louder than words.
We know that actions speak louder than words... Remember, conservatives like myself believe in "peace through strength," whereas liberals like yourself believe in "peace through appeasement." We believe in action, you believe in words.
