Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Land Debate: Building boom in King is typical of what is taking place statewide

When she walks in the woods behind her home, Annie Ruth Thomas can hear bulldozers making their way along a creek bottom.

They are plowing across her property to extend sewer lines to a new development outside King.

It may be progress, but Thomas says she's hurt most by the sense of loss.
