Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Stokes officials reverse vote to move school

Citizens filed lawsuit after original decision

DANBURY

Stokes County school officials have decided against the controversial relocation of its alternative school to another campus further north in the county.

Meadowbrook School, an alternative school near King, will not be moved this fall to the campus of North Stokes High School.

The board of education voted Monday night to reverse an earlier decision to move the students.
