Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Senate OKs drilling in Gulf

The bill also gives Florida a buffer of at least 100 miles...

Yep, and guess who was at the head of the effort to put that 100 mile buffer in the bill? None other than the GOP's next great hope, Jeb Bush. Of course, as everyone knows, everything past 12 miles is in international waters, so this bill will only keep American companies from drilling offshore. I guess Bush and his crew figure they'd rather look at Mexican and Venezuelan oil rigs out there. Six years from now, when he runs against Hillary, anyone who brings this up will be accused of being hardcore unappeasable and unrealistic.
