Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Paving of sidewalks, parking spaces and other improvements are well under way

KING

Spruced-up sidewalks, smooth pavement and spaces convenient for parking might attract people to downtown King.

That's what King officials intend with a $536,000 sidewalk and pavement project, which should be finished by the end of the year.

Earlier this week, workers were busy laying drainage pipe. Construction began in September.

The project area is on North Main Street from City Hall to the railroad crossing and on Dalton Road's intersection with Main Street to the entrance at School Street.
