Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Reid labels military leader 'incompetent'

By John Bresnahan
The Politico

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid called Marine Gen. Peter Pace, the outgoing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, "incompetent" during an interview Tuesday with a group of liberal bloggers, a comment that was never reported.

Reid made similar disparaging remarks about Army Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, said several sources familiar with the interview.

President Bush should call a meeting with Harry Reid, and then have Peter Pace and David Petraeus show up during the middle of it... With the CSPAN cameras rolling for all to see, Bush should ask Reid if he would like to repeat what he said about Pace & Petraeus.
