Winston-Salem to Take Ownership of Dash Stadium Immediately

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (By Brent Campbell, FOX 8 News) - The city of Winston-Salem voted on Monday night to take ownership of the Dash's baseball stadium immediately instead of waiting 25 years as originally planned, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

Critics of the city's involvement in the ballpark's financing first brought up the idea several weeks ago when the city council agreed to back another $12 million loan so Dash owners could complete construction of the already-delayed stadium. The second loan has caused a lot of lip flap from Winston-Salem taxpayers for weeks.

"We have to move forward," said Jeff Polston, who is concerned about the ownership plan. "What do we want with something sitting there for the next 15 years that's unfinished."
