King Native, Emory University Student Struck and Killed By Car
Stephanie Davis, R.I.P.
Atlanta, GA (WFMY) - Just six months ago, The Stokes News reported that Western Stokes High School senior Stephanie Davis received a scholarship to attend Emory University. Now, family and friends are mourning her death.
According to Emory University officials, Davis was crossing the street near the intersection of Mason Mill Road and Houston Mill Road in Atlanta Friday evening when she was struck by a car. The injuries she sustained were fatal, and she died early Saturday.
Davis, a native of King, was a freshman at Oxford College of Emory University. The school's dean, Stephen Bowen, released this statement.
"It is with deep sadness that I must inform you that freshman Stephanie Davis died this morning from injuries sustained in a car/pedestrian accident last night near the Emory Atlanta campus. Her parents were with her this morning.....Chaplain Lyn Pace will organize an Oxford community memorial service for Stephanie with more information being available in the next few days."
At King Moravian Church, the congregation was devastated by news of the 19-year-old's death. "It always brightened my day to see her," said Libba Cooper, who was a friend of Davis. "We'd always talk about her going to Emory. She was thrilled to have gotten into that school."
Davis often volunteered at church and participated in the youth group, according to church members. "She was always a leader," said Jennifer Sealy, who taught Davis in Sunday school. "I know she's in good hands, and we're going to miss her."

Andy..
Thank you for this story which showed up on Google....I have cried over her death as much as I did over Bryan's...and I only knew her as a Senior High at KMC. She was the most glowing and smiling young person that I have ever known...and of course, that includes you.
Christ be with all of us.
