Bully Pulpit

Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Counting Twice: Elections officials say woman voted two times, software caught it only during end-of-day check

(By Wesley Young; Winston-Salem Journal) - Someone voted twice on Friday, elections officials said yesterday, but they don't expect a repeat of the problem today when voters head to the polls to vote in the primary.

Rob Coffman, the director of elections in Forsyth County, said a woman came to vote about 11:30 a.m. Friday during early voting, and returned at 2:30 p.m. and was allowed to vote again.

The computer software that elections officials use wasn't supposed to let that happen.

An elections worker recognized the woman and told other officials, but by then the woman's second ballot had been cast.
