Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Questions Remain Surrounding Dell Closing as Caterpillar Breaks Ground



WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WGHP) — While one company begins a new era here [today], another remains uncertain concerning when it will shut its doors for good.

Caterpillar Inc. will celebrate a groundbreaking ceremony [today] to begin building a 100-acre site at Temple School Road.

After initially saying it will cease operations at the end of the month, Dell Computer, meanwhile, has yet to officially announce when it will close its plant, which was built here in 2005.
