Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

It’s official – Danbury's McCanless Inn/Moody Tavern new Civil War Trails site

(The Stokes News) - On Saturday, Oct. 23, the signage was installed at the residence of Richard and Jane Tharp at 601 N. Main Street in Danbury officially designating the circa 1830s McCanless Inn/Moody Tavern as a historic site on the North Carolina Civil War Trails system. North Carolina’s Trails highlight more than 750 Civil War-related sites statewide. A formal unveiling of the marker and Living History event with re-enactors from Durham, North Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania and tourism officials from Raleigh will be scheduled in the near future.
