Surry County dealership embezzler gets active time

DOBSON (Winston-Salem Journal) - A Dobson woman will spend Christmas behind bars after pleading guilty to embezzling more than $1 million from Mount Airy's Toyota dealership.

The Mount Airy News reported that Pamela Snow Lewis, 63, a former office employee of Patterson Toyota on U.S. 52-North, will serve an active sentence of seven to 13 years on nine counts of felonious embezzlement. Each charge represented an amount in excess of $100,000 taken from the business where Lewis was employed in a bookkeeping capacity for about 15 years.

Lewis was sentenced this week in Surry Superior Court, almost one year to the day after the charges against her came to light through a Mount Airy Police Department investigation.
