Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Rush Limbaugh On State Of The Union: “Who Wants To Listen To Somebody Lie For An Hour”

(By Matt Schneider, Mediaite) - Remaining true to his earlier promise not to change his tone in response to any call for civility, Rush Limbaugh today offered his unapologetically blunt assessment of President Obama’s State of the Union address. Here’s a hint: Rush is not looking forward to it.

Casually referring to the speech as “Obama’s State of the Union Show,” Rush expressed how painful it will be for him to sit through watching it:




“I know a lot of you don’t want to watch this . . . I’m like you. Who wants to sit there and listen to somebody lie for an hour and fifteen minutes?”
