Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

WaPo Editor Eugene Robinson Tells MSNBC's Keith Olbermann 'Michele Bachman Has a History of Saying Crazy-Ass Things'

(By Noel Sheppard, NewsBusters.org) - Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and Washington Post associate editor Eugene Robinson said on national television Thursday that Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) has a history of saying "crazy-ass things."

After doing so on MSNBC's "Countdown," Robinson was offered $100 by Keith Olbermann if he would title his next article using exactly those words...

I send my condolences to all the families in the Arizona Massacre. I am disappointed with Eugene Robinson's comments about the Black Panthers vs the New Black Panthers. When in the History of the Black Panthers' existence did they ever attack ANYONE before being attacked? Their mission was to protect themselves and their communities from individuals that were allowed to attack the decedents of En-Slaved Afrikans at will! And no one ever punished. Mr. Robinson, you know just like I know that there are groups out there that you journalists never challenge, until something happens like yesterday and you pretend you don't know anything about this "group" (Most often than not these are Europeans hate groups that have been given free "Cart Bloch" by authorities) but let a Black man pick up a gun and every eyebrow goes up. Mr. Robinson you saw the movie Malcolm X, what group of Black men ever tied someone to a railroad track? Mr. Robinson when you get the chance walk down 125th Street, in Harlem, NY there is an exhibit that shows NICE Christians, in their best Sunday ware hanging Black men (No one was ever questioned) this kind of disregard for the law against Afrikan was tolerated across the US. Don't forget Emmett Till, Black Wall Street, Rosewood Mississippi, the 4 Little Girls in Bombinham, and the Three Freedom Fighters in Mississippi!! I have a paper printed in 2006 with 6 columns of names of individuals that were murdered, (hanged, beaten, pregnant women riddled with bullets, baby cut from their stomachs, pregnant women buried alive the baby's could be seen underground moving in their stomach's) by Europeans; these people were guilty of nothing. You owe the law abiding folks, Black Panther Members included and apologize. I love piece and respect everyone that respect everybody's rights/Rites. We don't need any more division. I a not a member of the Black Panther Party; so don't g there!! I am a "advocate" for the Afrikan Burial Ground in Lower Manhattan and Education. Jgt
