Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

1989 Flashback: Bryant Gumbel Slams Reagan Policies as Increasing Poverty



(Eyeblast.tv) - On the July 17, 1989 'Today' show, co-host Bryant Gumbel spouted: "Largely as a result of the policies and priorities of the Reagan administration, more people are becoming poor and staying poor in this country than at any time since World War II."
