Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Chris Matthews‘ Again Obsesses Over Chris Christie’s Weight

(By Jonathon M. Seidl, The Blaze) - Even Chris Matthews and his guests on last night’s “Hardball” seem impressed with NJ Gov. Chris Christie’s D.C. speech this week. But, alas, Matthews could not keep the discussion exclusively to the merits of the speech. Instead, when a guest made a quick remark about Christie looking like average Americans (which he said could be an advantage), Matthews prodded, turning it into a full blown discussion on Christie’s weight and comparing the governor to the “thin” and “fit” President Obama.

To be fair, Matthews did admit he himself struggles with weight. But he also added that Christie would draw the ire of First Lady Michelle Obama considering her campaign against obesity:
