Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Dale Earnhardt's Death Forever Changed NASCAR

Ten years ago today, Dale Earnhardt died. And he is still the most popular driver in NASCAR.

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (By Mike Bianchi, WGHP) — Ten years ago today, Dale Earnhardt died.

But he is still here.

Everywhere you look, he is still here.

He is here in all of those "3" flags that still flap and flutter in the infield.

He is here in the commemorative black paint job his friend Michael Waltrip had on his car in Thursday's Gatorade 150 qualifying race.

On the 10-year anniversary of his death, "I wanted to celebrate his life," said an emotional Waltrip, who won that 2001 Daytona 500 on the day his friend and boss perished on that final, fatal lap.
