Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Voters Say No to Joe Biden Elementary School

(Delaware Online) - Voters in a Delaware town have decided not to name a newly constructed elementary school after Vice President Joe Biden.

The Brandywine School District held a contest - allowing people to decide the name of the new school. They picked Hanby Elementary School instead of Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Elementary School.

Hanby is the name of one of the community's early farming families. It won 40 percent of the vote.
