Big Red gets excited, Big Steve responds
"Get your guns! The environmentalists are coming!"If you say so. I don't remember seeing that in the article. And you're making accusations of hyperbole? Hmmm.
"What is a ''government type''?"A "government type" is any one of you leftists and totalitarians who believe that only the government can solve problems and that the government has some divine right to inflict itself on us to solve problems that may or may not exist.
"Is that just not a way of saying ''anybody who lobbies the government for things I don't agree with?'' How is it knowing what's best for others when THE people lobby the government for change and regulations?"Nice try. I don't know if you had noticed this, and since you might be a victim of government-run schools, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but we live in a republic. This "lobbying the government for change" is anathema to our system. In our system, you lobby the government for change every two to four years by electing representatives to it. Participatory democracy has never worked. It will never work. Humanity is incapable of it.
"There can be a middle ground where the need to reasonably protect the common good is actually considered, but God forbid a propogandist admit that."I suggest you try reading a little John Locke. As with everything a leftist spouts, your comment sounds completely reasonable. But wait, let's ask some questions. Who decides on what the "common good" is? Leftists think forced redistribution of wealth feeds the common good. Rightists believe redistributionism destroys the common good. Deadlock. The only solution is the social contract, in the Lockean sense, not in the social engineering sense. That is, consent of the governed to be governed. You leftists would have it that this nebulous entity called, "the government" seems to know what is best for us and if it feeds us our medicine at the point of a gun, then so be it. You never quite explain how this entity acquired such almighty omniscience, but God forbid a propagandist from the left admit that.
"I thought only the bad guys infiltrated things."You're definitely a victim of government-run schools. Look up the word. The author used it correctly.
"I infer by the tone that it must be total world domination and forcing Conservative Republicans to eat soy burgers, admit their deeply hidden homosexual urges, and sing "Kum Bu Yah" with Jesse Jackson."You can infer that, but the writer never implied it.
While you're looking things up, check out a project called "Turtle Island." This little brainchild of radical environmentalists involves setting aside roughly 40% of the Eastern US as some kind of preserve for the indigenous flora and fauna. That indigenous fauna does not include human beings. Under their program, only "designated persons," who we can safely assume to be members of the Turtle Island project, are allowed into the preserve, "for purposes of study and communing with the environment." I kid you not, it's right in their little brochure. So let's briefly review: a set of elites would like to remove the human population from 40% of the land mass of the Eastern US and set it aside as their own little private nature walk and vacation spot. It gets better. Many humans are going to be naturally resistant to such an idea, so the Turtle Islanders say that they will have to be removed by force, if necessary. Uh oh. I wonder if the 5 SCOTUS judges who just ruled on eminent domain are Turtle Islanders? One other problem with this idea is that moving these millions is going to cause some overcrowding problems in the remaining available land mass. Not to worry. The Turtle Islanders have thought of everything. The excess population can be controlled by "voluntary and involuntary means, up to and including euthanasia." Oh yeah, these are sane, reasonable people who just have our own best interest at heart. The really chilling thing is that Al Gore is an active contributor to the project.
Yep, infiltration is definitely the right word.
"And by the way, I thought that's how successful politics works: you ''wield the club of coercive power'' to get your way. I guess that's only ok when you agree with the one yielding the club."To all you totalitarians on the left, that is the way politics works. For the rest of us, it is a matter of expressing your views and letting the people decide whether your views are representative of theirs.
"It's really quite scary to me that a rational human being can write, let along believe, such inciteful crap."Right back atcha, good buddy.
"Implies that if the writer had his / her way, those dangerous environmentalists would be banished to some remote island that would never be useful for human purposes (oil drilling)."Hmmm, Turtle Island, maybe? Radical environmentalists packed away in their own little space, eminent domaining and involuntarily euthanizing one another to distraction doesn't disturb me in the least.
