Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Helping Africa

Hey B: I also remember seeing on TV bags of food sitting in warehouses in Africa going to waste because these totalitarian regimes had no interest in giving it to the people. ... Why would they. ... They don't care if their people starve or not.

Actually, if Brown Mtn. Baptist Church is raising money and giving it to these regimes, then yes, it's propping up dictatorships. ... However, if it's going to a group like Samaritan Purse, then that's good because they will make sure the aid gets to the countries they are allowed in. With that said, I understand what this expert is saying because by sending them free clothes & free food, the local farmers & clothesmakers can't compete with people getting free stuff.
